Fruit spotting Bug

Fruit spotting Bug (Amblypelta Nitida)
Range :
South Eastern Australia.

Description : The adult is a green bug about 1.5cm (3/5in) in length. Nymphs are reddish-black with two black spot on the abdomen. Both adults and nymphs suck sap.Fertility rises during warm weather, When members can rapidly increase. Fruit Spotting Bugs often occur together with the Banana-Spotting Bug.

Damage : Avocados; Water-soaked areas appear on fruits , which exude sap. The flesh beneath the spot is discolored.
Macadamias ; Green nuts have slightly sunken , dark spots and are shed by the plant. kernels can be deformed. Papayas; Fruits are shed. Peaches; Fruits exude a sticky gum and can be shed .

Plants Affected : Many fruiting plants including apples, avocados, citrus, macadamias, nectarines, guavas, peaches and persimmons.

Prevention and Control
: Early detection is desirable; non-chemical methods of control are preferable. Chemical ; Spray with trichlorfon. Non-chemical/organic; Spray with a soap spray. Check plants regularly at the flowering stage and as the fruits are forming.
